Live Wedding Painting of Lea and Corbett’s first kiss at Water’s Edge, Westbrook, Ct, by Linda Marino, oil painting 24 x 30″

A Perfect New England Wedding

Lea and Corbett’s wedding was held at the stunning Water’s Edge Resort in Westbrook, CT, a breathtaking venue that perfectly captures the charm of the New England coast. Water’s Edge is known for its terraced gardens and patios that overlook expansive grassy areas, leading to the calm waters of Long Island Sound. It was a Saturday in August, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. As the sun began to set, the sky transformed into a soft pastel canvas of yellows, oranges, and pinks, reflecting off the water and creating a golden glow. In the distance, small islands dotted the horizon while boats gently glided by—truly a picture-perfect scene for Lea and Corbett’s first kiss as husband and wife.

The First Look and The Ceremony

Before the ceremony, Lea and Corbett shared a tender first look near the water, a quiet and intimate moment that I was able to witness before moving up to the lawn for their photos and bridal party gathering. Their ceremony took place on the lawn, surrounded by vibrant gardens and the serene backdrop of the Long Island Sound. This was the moment I chose to immortalize on canvas—their first kiss as newlyweds, framed by a beautiful floral arch and the shimmering water in the background. The scene was magical, with the setting sun casting a warm glow over the couple and the entire landscape.

The Celebration Continues

Following the ceremony, the celebration moved to the terrace for cocktail hour, where guests enjoyed stunning ocean views. The evening then transitioned indoors for dinner and dancing, where heartfelt speeches were given, filled with love and admiration for Lea and Corbett. Family and friends had traveled great distances to celebrate the couple, a testament to the love and connection they share with those around them.

One of the special moments for me as an artist was when Lea and Corbett visited my easel during the reception. They even added their own special touch to the painting, which is something I love to invite my couples to do. This simple act personalizes the artwork and makes it even more meaningful for the couple.

Bringing the Painting to Life in the Studio

While the painting started live at their wedding, I continued to work on it back in my studio, refining the details and enhancing the luminosity of the sky and water. Using layers of oil, I was able to capture the soft glow of the sunset and the shimmering water, bringing the painting to life in a way that reflects the beauty of the day. Lea and Corbett chose a traditional silver frame, which perfectly complements the finished piece.

Lea later shared a beautiful review of her experience:

“Linda was at my wedding in August. Not only did all my guests love the live painting aspect of her work, but the painting itself turned out stunning. It is such a beautiful keepsake from our wedding and 100% worth every penny. Linda was also great to work with, she was communicative and so sweet.”
