A Sunset to Remember: Live Wedding Painting in New York City at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers
Some wedding days stay with you—long after the last song fades and the lights dim. Katie and Luis’ celebration at The Lighthouse on Chelsea Piers was one of those unforgettable days. Warm July air drifted in from the Hudson, and as the sun dropped low, the sky unfurled into one breathtaking color story after another. It felt as though the whole of New York paused for a moment just to honor them.
A Celebration Wrapped in Love and Legacy
Katie works at The Lighthouse, so being part of her wedding felt especially meaningful. It was clear from the moment I arrived that she is dearly loved—her co-workers were buzzing with excitement, cheering her on with so much joy and affection. And it wasn’t just local friends gathered that evening. Guests traveled from all over the world to witness this moment, joining together as one vibrant, joyful family.
Their story reaches back to school days, where Katie and Luis first met. Through the years, through every season, they stayed devoted to one another. That kind of history—the kind woven over time—always brings a tender richness to a painting.
And then there’s Luis’ remarkable genius with the Rubik’s Cube. Many people can solve one quickly… but Luis creates art with them. He surprised everyone with a life-size mosaic he built from hundreds of cubes, forming a portrait of the two of them. It was astonishing—and a beautiful testament to how love inspires creativity. You can see the mosaic in the the highlight reel.

Painting Their Moment in Time
Live Wedding Painting in New York City brings together everything I cherish as an artist: the emotion of real people, the energy of the celebration, and the breathtaking beauty of iconic New York light. For Katie and Luis, I focused on the way the sunset spilled across the windows, wrapping them in warm golds and soft pinks as they shared their moment.
But one of the sweetest parts of the evening was when Katie and Luis added their own touches to the painting. A single mark may seem small, but those gestures bind them to the piece in the most heartfelt way. Their painting becomes not just a portrait of the day—but something they took part in creating together.

Katie’s Heartfelt Review
Moments like this are why I do what I do. Katie kindly shared this review, and I’m honored to feature her words here:
“Linda was the first vendor we booked for our wedding, and there was no regret in that decision. She is so kind, easy to work with, and so unbelievably talented. Our guests were absolutely blown away with her work, and 6 months later they’re still talking about it!! Our favorite part was being able to add to this painting during the wedding. It’s so exciting to know that we both put even just a small mark on such an extravagant work of art. It was also super easy to book, contract, and then later pick out a frame and arrange pickup. All in all a seamless process, and Linda was the easiest vendor to have. We’re so happy to have this incredible artwork hanging in our home, and Linda truly captured our day so beautifully. Thank you Linda for being part of, and capturing, the best day of our lives!!”
Katie’s words reflect everything I strive for: a warm experience, a cherished work of art, and a painting that continues to speak long after the day has passed.
A Highlight Reel to Relive the Magic
Their highlight reel brings the whole atmosphere back—the light, the laughter, the gentle joy between them. It’s always a gift to share these moments with couples and to preserve their story through paint, one brushstroke at a time.
Honoring the Past, Creating for the Future
Every wedding holds its own beauty, but some days feel stitched with the kind of grace that reminds us why we celebrate love the way we do. Katie and Luis’ wedding was filled with friendships built over years, family gathered from afar, craft and creativity, and a sunset that seemed to bless every moment.
It was an honor to stand quietly within all of it—painting, observing, remembering—and to help them carry this day forward into the life they’re building together.
