There’s something magical about an outdoor tented wedding, especially when the afternoon sunlight streams through the fabric, bathing everything in a warm, golden glow.
At Katherine and Julian’s wedding at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, MA, the setting was nothing short of enchanting. The way the light danced off the glassware and shimmered across the tables brought an extra layer of beauty to an already joyous occasion.
The incredibly talented team at Jodi Raphael Events did a phenomenal job designing and coordinating every detail of the day. From the thoughtful layout to the floral touches and elegant décor, their vision was executed flawlessly.
The caterers served exquisite food, and guests traveled from all over the U.S. and abroad to celebrate Katherine and Julian—a true testament to the love and admiration they’ve inspired in their lives.

Katherine’s gown was absolutely breathtaking. With its vintage-inspired silhouette, delicate beadwork, and intricate design, it reflected the grace and elegance she carried throughout the day. It was a pleasure to capture her first dance with Julian under the soft glow of the tent lights.
Live Painting Challenges
As a live wedding painter, one of the artistic challenges I often face with tented weddings is how to depict the large white structure without it overpowering the scene. In this painting, the tent covered nearly a third of the canvas.
To create the feeling of light and airiness, I used multiple layers of both acrylic and oil paint, building up translucent warmth with Indian Yellow, Transparent Red Oxide, and Ultramarine Blue.
The golden rattan lights, the greenery woven around the edges, and the ambient sunlight gave the tent a soft, romantic glow that I was determined to translate onto the canvas.
This painting is not just a representation of a moment—it’s a reflection of the joy, love, and artistry woven into the fabric of Katherine and Julian’s unforgettable celebration.

It’s more than just a painting—it’s a legacy piece, a treasured heirloom that tells your love story through brushstrokes and light.
