I know I’ve said this before but I can’t help saying it again, I’m so grateful the couples that hire me to be their wedding painter. I don’t take this lightly and as to have this honor means so much to me.
Each wedding, each couple has special and unique love story to tell with it’s own unique charm and beauty. Julia and Robby’s wedding at the picturesque Lake of Isles Country Club in North Stonington, CT, was no exception. Set against the backdrop of the winter season, their December 23rd celebration was infused with the warmth of holiday spirit, making it a truly enchanting affair.
The venue itself was a vision of elegance, with twinkling lights adorning the back wall of windows and a cozy ambiance created by the rich rust and deep wood tones complemented by white tablecloths. The floral arrangements, featuring pine branches, pinecones, red roses, and candles, added a festive touch, while the red ribbons tied to each chair brought a pop of color and whimsy to the setting.
As I set up my easel in the main ballroom, I couldn’t help but be swept up in the excitement of the day. Before the ceremony began, I had the opportunity to steal a glimpse of Julia and Robby as they previewed the beautifully adorned ballroom. Their photographer captured them in a perfect dip kiss, providing me with the ideal pose to incorporate into my painting.
One of the joys of live painting is the spontaneity it allows, and this moment was no exception. While the first dance often presents challenges with low lighting and positioning, capturing this pre-ceremony moment ensured that I could preserve it in all its splendor.
Throughout the evening, the atmosphere was electric, thanks in part to the incredible playlist curated by DJ Sam. His music had everyone on their feet, dancing and celebrating in the spirit of the season. Little did I know that this serendipitous encounter would lead to an invitation to appear on his podcast, “Stress-Free Wedding Podcast,” where we discussed the art of live painting and my journey in the industry.

Back in my studio, as I added the finishing touches to the painting, I reflected on the honor it was to create such a meaningful piece for Julia and Robby. Including their parents and members of the wedding party served as a reminder of the love and joy that surrounded them on their special day.
As I put the final brushstrokes to canvas, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to share my gift and create a lasting memory of a day filled with love, laughter, and holiday magic. Julia and Robby’s winter wedding will forever hold a special place in my heart, reminding me of the beauty that can be found in every brushstroke and every cherished moment shared between two souls in love.
